Every July, Guardamar del Segura holds its Moors and Christians festival in honour of Saint James, recognised as a festival of Regional Tourist Interest. Over several days, groups dressed in historical costumes parade through the streets in processions, embassies and gunpowder displays that symbolically recreate the coexistence and clashes between Muslims and Christians in the Middle Ages.
